• Minimize Distractions: Cell phones, music, passengers or eating while driving.
• Don’t think of it as a motorcycle: Think of the rider; the person is someone’s son, daughter, spouse or parent.
• Unlike other protected motorists, motorcyclists have only their safety gear and are at greater risk from distracted drivers.
• A motorcyclist may look farther away than they are. When checking traffic to turn at an intersection or into (or out of) a driveway, estimate that a motorcycle is closer than it looks.
• One the worst threats to a motorcyclist is the driver who makes a left hand turn in front of them. Waiting a few extra seconds for a motorcyclist to pass could be the decision that saves a life.
